The nature preserve region Meulenwald extends from Trier to the Wittlich valley, bounded by the valleys of the creeks Salm and Kyll. It includes a total area of 15,000 hectares and offeres recreation pure in a nature free of tourism. Countless sights are revealed to the rambler, chateaus and castles, idyllic creek valleys and the Eifel mountains. The "Kellerberg" near Dierscheid with its 448 m is the highest mountain of the Meulenwald and from its belvedere it offers a wonderful and very far reaching round view.
At a rambling trail network with good signposting there are eight mineral sources bubbling as geological speciality. Along the mineral sources rambling trail you will pass the idylic villages of Heckenmünster and Dreis. In addition to the manifold round rambling opportunities there will also be a Premium rambling trail "Eifelsteig" leading through the Meulenwald region.
